The Origin of Deerhounds

So where do we deerhounds come from? . . . and does Peter Savolainen have the answer?

If you find this interesting, there is a superb little documentry to enjoy over at the Nature programe website from the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

Peter Savolainen contributes to the educational two part series Dogs that Changed the World - I particularly liked the Saluki skeletal running clip - check it out.

Saw a great story about the origin of Deerhounds in a recent book by James Stewart. The book is titled 'Burn Away the Cobwebs' and is really about the fight for Scottish Independence. But there is a passage that tells of how Deerhounds came to be on earth, offered to man by the Almighty as an apology for making woman! The book is worth reading just for this story, believe me.
